ABOUT
Matthew Snyman is an award-winning filmmaker, author, product designer and creative director whose career has spanned film, publishing, immersive technology, fintech and consumer brands.
He began in film and commercial production, directing and producing work combining live action, animation and high-end visual effects for brands including Pepsi, Microsoft, Coca-Cola and Infiniti. His work has appeared everywhere from Times Square and Chinese national television to the G8 Summit and the main stage at Cannes Lions. He is also an award-winning screenwriter, winning Final Draft’s Big Break competition with The Whaler’s Daughter.
Matthew is a published author and illustrator. His best-known published work, The Dementia Diaries, was created in partnership with the NHS and Kent County Council to help children understand dementia within their families. The project was distributed through schools and libraries, presented at the G8 Dementia Summit, nominated for the School Library Association’s Information Book Award and subsequently published internationally.
He later joined Curve as employee number one and a member of the founding team. As Head of Design, Matthew created the brand from the ground up, including its identity, app, payment card, packaging and early marketing. He also worked across product development and helped shape features including Go Back in Time and Curve Rewards. Curve grew to more than five million users, received international coverage from the New York Times, Wired, Forbes, TechCrunch and the Wall Street Journal, and was acquired by Lloyds Banking Group in 2026.
Matthew then moved further into immersive technology as Creative Director at Continuous, leading international VR, film and interactive projects. His work included the global launch of BYTON’s M-Byte electric vehicle, developing films, experiences and prototype in-car interfaces around technology that was still being built.
Most recently, Matthew co-founded Grass & Co., a British wellbeing company spanning functional mushrooms, nootropic drinks and botanical wellness. As Creative Director he built the brand, products, packaging, e-commerce and creative ecosystem, helping take Grass & Co. from an idea to a national retail brand stocked in more than 2,000 locations and by retailers including Boots, Holland & Barrett, Whole Foods Market, Sainsbury’s, Ocado, Planet Organic and Amazon. Its products have won multiple industry awards, including consecutive Grocer Awards.
Today his work increasingly combines traditional filmmaking, design and production with generative AI, using new image, video and audio tools as part of live commercial creative workflows.
Across all of it, Matthew’s north star has remained the same: story. Whether the output is a film, a book, an app, a physical product or something that did not exist a year ago, he is interested in finding the idea at its centre and bringing it to life in the medium that serves it best.
